Faithful Friar’s Message:

I leave Sunday morning for a trip East, perhaps to the pope’s Mass on Sunday, April 20. While I will miss some activities, I will be praying for the Assembly and its successful growth into the years ahead.

I will celebrate my 50th anniversary during the week of June 14 (June18 is the actual date). I hope to stress the fullness of priesthood--of Jesus---but participated in by reason of Baptism and/or Confirmation--or by the Sacrament of Orders. I presume you will participate as you did during my fortieth, but 50 being the year after seven seven’s is a Jubilee in which debts are disowned, slaves are freed, etc. One does that rather quietly. Debts I have, and slaves I may have made through imprudent advice, or what...I mention that in light of the Holy Father... The Mohammed rejected priesthood and many felt Islam more easily grasped and freer as a result...What God has given us in Christianity is more rich--especially when we pursue love rather than power...

In considering officers for next year, please consider a younger, more vibrant friar. While the Bishop appoints, you should be ready with nominees. It is easy to be faithful when you’re old--but hardly more friar for the good of the Order. This year, I am serious for what I see is for the good of that Order.

                      Theophilus, faithful friar
