1993-94. LEE ROY CATES was chosen as
Faithful Navigator for 1993-94. All of the assembly's major activities
were continued, along with two remarkable accomplishments.
The production of a "Color Guard/Honor Guard ProcedureS"
video tape, which is designed to standardize drill procedures
throughout the state, was a major
endeavor during Cates' term of office. Another achievement was the
installation of a computerized telephone calling system for the assembly
that is used for
automatic
dialing and message delivery. During Cates' term, three members of his
family were among those exemplified into the Order of the Fourth Degree:
his son,
his brother-in-law and his nephew. Midway through his term of office,
Cates was transferred to Houston, Texas, by his employer. Thereafter, much
of the work of the
assembly rested on the shoulders of Faithful Captain Fred Fluitt.
