1961-62. JACK
O'REILLY SR., a
charter member of Our Lady Queen
of Heaven Council 4562, was elected to head the
assembly in June of 1961. During O'Reilly's administration, the
assembly's color
Corps made 12 public appearances under the command of
Allen Louviere. The assembly also inaugurated the practice of
sponsoring a "get acquainted coffee" to welcome candidates for
membership into the assembly. At this first gathering, 115 were present.
The practice of sponsoring an annual Memorial Mass dedicated to the
deceased Sir Knights ofthe assembly was
begun during O'Reilly's term of office. Msgr. Boudreaux
celebrated the mass, and Msgr .Irving
DeBlanc, newly-appointed
pastor of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish,
eulogized the deceased members.
Also during O'Reilly's term, the assembly voted to make the cape and
naval type chapeau the official dress of the assembly's Color Corps.
The assembly assisted in the organization ofMsgr. Peeters Assembly in
Jennings and participated in the installation of the new assembly's
charter officers. Msgr. Cramers Assembly lost 32 members from the Welsh
and Bell City councils as a result of transfers to the new assembly.
In partial recovery, the assembly added 15 new members at an April
Exemplification in New Orleans.
At the District Convention, held in Shreveport, Master Emile A. Reggie
Sr. announced that Msgr. Cramers Assembly had won the Master's Award for
each of the terms of Odey Hebert and Jack O'Reilly
