1949-51.
Insurance executive SIR KNIGHT W. J. MOREAU the only
Knight to serve two terms as Faithful Navigator of the assembly, took
office on July 1, 1949. During his first term, the assembly voted to
donate $5.00 per member for repairs of the retreat house at Grand Coteau,
voted to furnish 50 copies per month of Our Sunday Visttor magazine
to patients of St. Patrick Hospital, and voted to adopt uniform burial
services for deceased members. During Moreau's second term, members of the
assembly took part in the consecration of the Most Rev. Maurice
Schexnayder as an Auxiliary Bishop of Lafayette and attended ceremonies in
New Orleans and Lafayette. In June, the assembly held a testimonial
banquet in the Bishop's honor. During
his two terms, Faithful Navigator Moreau was
gratified by the recruitment of 61 new members for the assembly by the
membership chairmen.
