1947-48.
SIR KNIGHT COŁUMBUS J. MOSS took
office in July of 1947 as the assembly's third Faithful Navigator. It was
under Faithful Navigator Moss' administration that the assembly
inaugurated the practice of presenting a memorial chalice in memory of the
deceased. The first chalice was in memory of the Rev. Armand Hamel of Iowa
Council 3006, who died on February 26, 1948. The chalice was presented to
Father Hamel's nephew who was studying for the priesthood in Canada
In an attempt to increase attendance at
meetings, Faithful Navigator Moss instituted a monthly newsletter,
outlining the meeting plans, and he set up calling committees in each
council.
Lake Charles members were invited to
attend Midnight Mass at Christmas and High Mass on Easter Sunday, and act
as a Guard of Honor. The assembly also mounted a Guard of Honor for the
state convention of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
A major highlight was the visit of the Pilgrim Virgin. Members of the
assembly attended almost 100 per cent, and served as a Guard of Honor at
the opening ofthe Virgin Triduum. Many served on the Night Rosary
Committees.
Faithful Navigator Moss
and Past Faithful Navigator Fl°eter were delegates to the Fourth Degree
convention in New Orleans.
