Sir
Knight John Halloran
Sir Knight Halloran was born February 28,
1953 in Margaretteville, N.Y. He
is the oldest of seven (3 brothers & 3 sisters).
He graduated High School in 1972, The
Citadel (BA Math) in 1976, Central Michigan University (MS Admin) in 1986
and Loyola University (MS Pastoral Studies) in 1999.
Sir Knight Halloran married
Nila Lynn Heape from Beaufort, S.C. on August 28, 1976 at The Citadel in
Charleston, S.C. Have three
grown children (Thomas, Nancy & Cindy) and three grandchildren (Kayne,
Kala & Nila Ann).
Sir Knight Halloran is
currently employed as an Executive Assistant Manager and a Certified
Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens. He
also active in the US Army Reserve as the Deputy Commander of the 336th
Finance Command. Spent 25
years in the military with 15 years on active duty.
He spent 13 months in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during the Gulf War.
His current rank is Lieutenant Colonel.
He was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious
Service Medal (w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (w/3 Oak
Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer
Service Medal (w/Bronze Star), Reserve Component Achievement Medal (w/2
Oak Leaf Clusters), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service
Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (w/Mobilization Device & Bronze Hour
Glass), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation
Medal (Kuwait), Expert Infantryman's Badge, Airborne Badge, Air Assault
Badge, and two Overseas Bars.
Sir Knight Halloran has been
active with the Boy Scouts for over 30 years.
He was a Council Commissioner and Vice President for Exploring.
He is currently on the Council Executive Board and a National
Council Representative. Been
awarded the Eagle Scout Badge (w/5 Palms), Silver Beaver, Whitney M. Young
Award, James E. West Fellow, Theodore Spurgeon Award, District Award of
Merit, Council Exploring Leadership Award, Silver Commissioner Service
Award, and Scoutmaster Award of Merit.
Also serving as the Region 5 Chairman for the National Catholic
Committee on Scouting. Been
awarded the St. George Medal, Bronze Pelican Medal, Golden Ad Altari Dei
Medal, Ad Altari Dei Medal, and Spes Mundi Medal.
Member of Serra and a past Vice President for Communications.
Member of the American
Legion and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.
Member of the Retired
Officer's Association and Reserve Officer's Association.
Member of the Knights of
Peter Claver and a past Warden. Received
the Knight of the Year Award. Also
a 4th Degree member serving as the Friar.
Member of the Knights of
Columbus since October 1987. Joined
Council #1207 and became their Grand Knight for two years. As the Grand Knight we went from 115th place to 34th place
during the first term and 9th place during the second term for the State
Deputy's Award. Received the
Knight of the Year Award, Family of the year Award, and Council Award of
Merit. Served as District Deputy and received the Star District Award and
the District Award of Merit. Also
a member of the Assembly since March 1989. Received the Sir Knight of the
Year Award.
Member of the Military and
Hospitilar Order of the Knights of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem with the rank
of Officer.
Currently a Eucharistic
Minister for St. Theodore's Parish and the Military Ordinariate.
Served as CYO Advisor, CCD teacher, and Parish Council
Representative Highlights of Sir Knight Halloran’s term - The Assembly
participated in 81 events during the 2000 - 2001 Fraternal Year.
These included 11 planning meetings at the Piccadilly, 7 general
meetings hosted by the various Councils in the Assembly, 4 District
Promotional Meetings (hosted January 5, 2001), Father/Daughter Banquet,
Father/Son Banquet, Public Officials Banquet, Anniversary Banquet,
Installation of Officers Banquet, Christmas Party, Assembly Audit, V.A.
Hospital visit, Alter Servers Recognition Day, Beauty Pageant Honor Guard,
15 wakes & 15 funerals (Gervais Faul, Glen Cradon, Msgr. Bernard,
Audry Pizanie, Dr. George Mowad, Venola Duplechin, Cecil
Wilson, Msgr. Vidrine, Wade
Dupont, Donald Karam, Curtis Eagleston, Joseph Landry, Raymond Dimas,
Burgess Fontenot, & Chief Barras), Diocese of Beaumont Installation of

During Sir Knight
Halloran’s administrative year Sir Knight Truman Stacey and Sir Knight
Lee Roy Cates wrote and published the Louisiana District History Book as
part of the 100th Anniversary Celebration. Assembly has its own web site, www.msgrcramers.com
thanks to Lee Roy Cates. The
Assembly placed into the State of Louisiana, Knights of Columbus time
capsule a copy of the information that can be found on the web site.
Major activity conducted was the collection of over 1/2
ton of religious materials for a Moslem country. The collection started in July 2000 and ended in March 2001.
Of the 366 members in the Assembly, 289 added to the collection.
Also 11 of 16 Councils contributed.
Other contributions came from the Catholic Daughters, Knights of
Peter Claver, Knights of St. George, Knights of St. Gregory, The
Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher, the Military and Hospitilar Order
of the Knights of St. Lazarus, Order of the Fleur De Lis, and the Knights
of Malta. Articles came from as far west as Beaumont, north as Fort
Polk, south as Cameron and east as Lafayette. Over 660 hours man-hours
were invested in this endeavor, especially in the making of the 1720
rosaries.
